Hometown?
Redding, California

Life-changing event?

Joining the Army, the birth of my son Maximé, hearing Jimi Hendrix for the first time in 6th grade, becoming obsessed with Beethoven as a kid, my mother's purchase of an old upright piano, and subsequent piano lessons.

What music are you currently grooving to?
Stanton Moore's Groove Alchemy, Robert Walter's Super Heavy Organ, CKY's Carver City, Thelonious Monk's Underground, Muse's The Resistance, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood's Out Louder.

What, if push comes to shove, is your all-time favorite album?
Impossible to say... too many to choose from.  Like my moods and tastes, my "favorite album" changes and reflects my passions at the moment and my musical growth.

What was the first album you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
Nirvana's Nevermind, sometime in 7th or 8th grade.  I believe it was from a chain music store that no longer exists...the name escapes me.  Soon after I delved into classic rock...Jimi changed my entire outlook on music.

Which musician have you ever wanted to be?
If I had to choose, Claude DeBussey.  French, brilliant, often avant-garde, way ahead of his time, scorned by the church, and a hit with the ladies.

What do you sing in the shower?
Whatever happens to still be reverberating and bouncing around in my head from throughout the day.  A thick and thundering guitar riff by CKY, a funky bass line by Chris Wood, a soulful Stevie Wonder melody, even a snippet of the Mentos commercial song, etc.

What is your favorite Saturday Night record?
Depends on what I'm doing Saturday night!  Gettin' funky like an old batch of collard greens?  Anything by James Brown or Stevie Wonder in the late' 60s and '70s.  Chillaxin'?  Miles Davis' Kind of Blue or anything by Kings of Convenience.  This particular list could get long...

And your Sunday morning record?
Depends on what I'm doing Sunday morning!  Enjoying brunch with family? Ahmad Jamal's Live at the Pershing or Ahmad's Blues.  Doing yardwork and sweating in the summer sun?  I wanna rock --- gimme The Who, Zeppelin, CKY, STP, or Sevendust.
